Helen, Amber and Alice successfully completed the W507 Health Effects of Hazardous Substances held in Auckland by the New Zealand Occupational Hygiene Society (NZOHS). This course covered the basic principles of toxicology, epidemiology and physiology, as well as routes of exposure, and factors that influence absorption, distribution, storage and elimination of substances in the body. The health effects and principle target organs of some of the hazardous substances commonly found in workplaces were also covered.
